The seasonal dishes at breakfast were out of this world! I loved the personal touch with traditional Japanese flavors that changed daily. Plus, the staff were so helpful, offering tips on nearby gems like Sudare Kyogozen and The Sodoh Higashiyama Kyoto for dinner – can't get better than that!
You have to get used to sleeping on futons on tatami mats, but honestly, it adds to the charm! While reservations for the onsen could be a bit tricky, we managed just fine and loved every moment.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a cozy tatami room, soaking in the authentic onsen experience together with our grandchild. The lovely staff pointed us to nearby sites like Chion-in, which we explored on foot while taking in the beauty of Kyoto.
My children wished there were more activities for young ones.

The tatami room had a beautiful view, but the air conditioning was pretty weak.

The staff were accommodating and genuinely warm.
My family and I stayed for four nights, and I have to say, we found the experience frustrating. The futon was excruciatingly firm, and not in a charming Japanese way. I struggled to sleep well. Additionally, the air conditioning was inadequate for the summer heat, and when I requested a taxi, I was told it would be difficult to secure one at a crucial time. Overall, at the price we paid, I expected much more than the basic amenities and limited dining options.

Charming stay with unique Japanese experience
We appreciated the stunning views of central Kyoto from our tatami room. The staff offered great advice for local attractions, making our exploration seamless. Be prepared for traditional futon bedding. it adds to the authenticity. Don't miss the delicious seasonal breakfast options!

surprising how no one mentioned the ridiculously loud room, trying to sleep was an absolute chore. The futon felt like sleeping on the floor. certainly not what I expected for the price! also, given the inconvenience, I woudl’ve thought they’d offer a complimentary gift or something. almost gave them a good review, just couldn’t really.

The traditional Japanese breakfast was beautifully presented and crafted with fresh ingredients, making it the perfect way to start each day. The views from our room provided a stunning backdrop, particularly of the nearby pagoda. However, the reservation system for the baths could use improvement, as timing was sometimes inconvenient. Additionally, sleeping on the futon took some getting used to, which could be uncomfortable for some. Service was attentive, but some requests took longer than expected to be addressed.

I stayed with my partner for two nights. Our room had a stunning view of the nearby temple. The staff gave us helpful tips on exploring the area, making our trip better. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast every morning. It was nice to be in a traditional space, though sleeping on the futon was different for us. I felt a connection to Japanese culture during our stay.
Lack of a lift affected us when managing our luggage. The public bath required reservations, which could be inconvenient.

100% recommend for a budget stay
Cozy room, friendly staff, equipped with air conditioning, provided us with a fantastic view of the pagoda and delicious traditional breakfast that changed daily during our brief stay.
The futon bedding required some adjustment, but it added to the overall experience.

I enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast every morning, which was well-balanced and beautifully presented. The staff took care of our dietary needs without any hassle. Our room had a stunning view of the pagoda, and I found the experience quite unique. Being single, I appreciated the location, which was perfect for wandering the streets at my own pace.
The futons took time to get used to. Accessing the public bath required reservations, which could be a bit tricky.
